Rocking Horse Head finds Forbert collaborating with producer/bassist Brad Jones (Marshall Crenshaw, Jill Sobule) and members of Wilco for a looser, energetic folk-rock sound.
Lyrically, Rocking Horse Head shows Forbert writing in less of an autobipgraphical mode that he has in the past.  "You have to just go for whatever inspiration you've got," he says.
